Minecraft has been used by many individuals as a way of creating new landscapes.
The Ordnance Survey have released a map of the whole of the British Isles, created using Minecraft.

Isle of Dogs: the city of Megasaki and Trash Island
​
Wes Anderson's latest stop-motion animation (following his earlier treatment of Roald Dahl's 'Fantastic Mr. Fox') tells the story of the banishment of dogs from a futuristic Megasaki City to the city's Trash Island.
