Final project

The final part of teaching our Scheme of Work will be the creation of an individual project, influenced by some of the resources students will have been introduced to, and based on an (un)familiar place of their choice.

Details, and assessment criteria will appear here during Summer 2018, ready for first teaching in 2018-19 if you would like to work through our unit.

Proposed outcomes

1. Compare and critically evaluate a range of different approaches to the analysis and appreciation of places based on (re)presentations in both educational texts and specifications, and cultural media such as music, literature, cinema and art.

2. Recognise and comment upon

(i) important themes in the development of the study and appreciation of place, and

(ii) connections between school/academic geography and cultural media in outcome

3. Complete a short creative piece of work that explores and communicates, in an appropriate geographical style and format, the inspirational significance of a particular (un)familiar place, making use of geographical concepts and a selection of cultural media.
